Please join us for our General Meeting at the Harvey West Scout House. Doors open at 7, with refreshments and informal mushroom ID from 7:00 - 7:30. A discussion of upcoming events will precede our speaker, Dr. Dennis Desjardin, Professor of Mycology in the Biology Department at San Francisco State.
Join us for his talk on "Fungi and Human Affairs" which will address how humans interact with fungi in the world. He will highlight what fungi do, how they are beneficial and detrimental to the planet and to us, and how we use them to enhance the quality of our lives.

Fall is coming up — shall we celebrate a new, season, and may it please be a wet one? Chef Bob Wynn, Forager-in-Chief Sue Labiste and the FFSC Culinary committee are cooking up a truly wild event this year featuring foraged foods. Wild mushrooms will be complemented by an array of indigenous foods, thanks to our intrepid foragers, preppers and planners Bob, Sue, Fred Molnar, Cat Gunderson, Bill and Annie Lang, Margaret Carpenter and Debbie Johnson. Be sure to sign up early, as these dinners usually sell out. The menu can be found below.

Allan Rockerfeller will be leading a mushroom tour in Queretaro, Mexico Aug 6 - 9, 2015. Queretaro is a really nice place with diverse mushroom habitats, and this tour is unique in that I am not getting paid - all profits go towards saving the forests in the Sierra Gorda Ecological Reserve.

Find fungi on display in a re-created woodland habitat. This unique Santa Cruz tradition features three days of fantastic fun, informative speakers and demonstrations, with fungal activities for the whole family. Initiated by David Arora in 1973, this year's fair represents 42 years of keeping the "fun" in fungi. Join the fun!
We have been wanting to get your feedback on Long Distance Forays. One of the benefits of FFSC membership is the opportunity to join us on these wonderful adventures. Long distance forays carry the allure of rich fungal finds, amazing culinary pleasures and collaborating with other attendees to enjoy our finds and adventures. The experienced members are love sharing what they have learned. Nothing compares with learning in the field from experienced collectors and the depth of knowledge of the membership when identifying your finds later and teaching you the nuances of doing it yourself.
