Coccoras (by Katherine Elvin)
Mushroom of the Month: December, 2015
Coccoras are one of my favorite mushrooms to see and collect. The distinctive colors, thick cottony cap and striation on the cap edge makes this amanita a little easier to id. If I am unsure at any point, it stays in the ground and I take away the memory, image and sometimes a photo.
Debbie Viess has a very informative link here on BAMMS web site which tells more about this species.
You can go here for Mushroom Observer.
Amanita Calyptroderma - Fall Coccora - tan to light brown
Aminita vernicoccora - Spring Coccora - light yellow
2015 Member Holiday Potluck (by )
Another fun FFSC Holiday Potluck! Lots of food and friends, and we had so much fun socializing we forgot to take pictures, even of the food. Thanks to Justin for taking these photos for us! If you have pictures don't hesitate to send them to me (Kitty) and I will be happy to add them to our jolly gang here.
Hope to see you next year.

2015 Albion I Foray
We found so many mushrooms up in Albion, Mendocino, Fort Bragg and Salt Point it was a delight to hike around. Everyone got mushrooms. Here are a sampling of pictures shared by members from several sources.
Here's the link to Anna Stockel's Album on facebook. Thanks for photo documenting the event...
