? WHEN: 04/18/2018, 7-9 pm
? WHERE: Harvey West Scout House, Harvey West Scout House

Please join us for our General Meeting at the Harvey West Scout House.  Refreshments will be provided and informal mushroom ID from 7:00 - 7:30.  A discussion of upcoming events will precede our speaker, Alissa Allen. She will present a colorful talk about Mycopigments of the Northern California Coast.

Mycopigments is a term Alissa coined to describe the colorful dyes found within the flesh of certain fungi and lichens. It’s also the name of her education based business. She offers classes, lectures and interactive presentations on working with, and recognizing the wild mushrooms and lichens that can be used for dyes. Alissa will be teaching a class in Boulder Creek of Saturday, April 21st. Info here.

Alissa has been looking at mushrooms most of her life, having studied mycology for almost 20 years, and has been sharing her passion for mushroom dyes for over 15 years! This unique set of interests has led her to a very interesting career path. Her focus is studying regional mycoflora and utilizing the colorful dyes to entice people to pay closer attention to the role fungi play in our lives; from being a necessary yet understudied part of our ecosystem, to a colorful addition to our wardrobes, to the bonding that foraging brings to families, friends and communities. Nothing brings her more joy than to share this with others.

Please join us for an amazing and inspiring evening!
