Please join us for our General Meeting on Zoom . The Zoom session will be opened at 6:30 pm for those who would like to socialize and chat with fellow mycophiles before the main meeting, which will start at 7:00 pm. A discussion of upcoming events and minister's reports will precede our speaker. We are pleased to welcome renowned herbalist Dr. Christopher Hobbs a longtime speaker at our annual Fungus Fair.
Cooking and healing with Mushroom
Discover how mushrooms work to activate our immune responses. A thorough and succinct review of the science and traditional use of the most widely-researched medicinal mushrooms (especially turkey tails, shiitake, cordyceps, maitake, and chaga), based on many years of on-going clinical practice will be presented. Discover the health-promoting benefits of eating mushrooms regularly, including their nutritional and medicinal value. After a short discussion on harvesting, sourcing edible mushrooms in the bay area, processing, storing, the speaker will talk about tasty recipes and their nutritional and medicinal benefits, including traditional recipes from other cultures and from California kitchens.

Dr. Christopher Hobbs is a fourth-generation, internationally renowned herbalist, licensed acupuncturist, herbal clinician, research scientist, consultant to the dietary supplement industry, expert witness, botanist, mycologist with over 35 years of experience.
The author or co-author of over 20 books, including the forthcoming “Christopher Hobbs’s Essential Guide to Visionary and Medicinal Mushrooms.”
Christopher has lectured on herbal medicine world-wide. He earned his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley, one of the world’s most prestigious universities, with research and publication in evolutionary biology, biogeography, phylogenetics, plant chemistry, and ethnobotany.
