Tuesday Oct 21 General Meeting - Robin Alexander "A Forager's View with a Black Trumpet Twist"

Important Notice: This season the FFSC is meeting at the Live Oak Grange in Santa Cruz.  Because of scheduling availability we have changed our meetings from Wednesday evening to Tuesday evening.  

The evening will start at 6:30 pm for those who would like to socialize, snack  on Bob Wynn's fantastic spread and chat with fellow mycophiles before the main meeting. Business and announcements will start at 7:00 pm. After the business part of the meeting, Robin Alexander will share  "A Forager's View with a Black Trumpet Twist:"

"First, I'll describe a process for drying and aging the black trumpets before infusion with oils. Then I'll describe a few suggestions for applications with the oils. On another topic, I'll describe a process for making a 'Duxelle" using local chanterelles and give suggestions for its application. I will also talk about my foraging experience in the East By Hills. And finally, I'd like to have an open discourse of Q/A with whatever may come up." 

About Robin Alexander: 

"Born and raised in San Francisco. A musician, a geologist  and artisan bread baker. Side Hustle; Freedive-Spearfishing. Other ambitions; Above-water fishing, hunting and foraging. After starting at ‘Chez Panisse’ I became ‘Master-baker/Owner at Metropolis Baking Co."
