Mycopigments: Exploring Mycology through Dye Experimentation

West coast fungi produce a full spectrum of colorful dyes. Whether you are curious about the basics of mushroom dyeing, or you want to know which fungi are treasured dye producers, or if you are an experienced dyer and want to contribute to furthering the art and science, this talk is for you! Mushroom dyeing is still in its infancy and your collections and experiments could contribute to a better understanding of the dyes themselves or be applied to the bigger picture of fungal chemistry and taxonomy. Join me and the Fungus Federation of Santa Cruz to get a glimpse of how mushroom dyes can enhance your mycological experience.

Alissa will also be offering a two-day workshop in Santa Cruz Saturday March 19 through Sunday March 20.
