2014-2015 FFSC Local Forays (by )
It will be necessary to sign up for these events and there will be a cap on the number of participants. To avoid swamping the foray leader, these local forays will not be available to the general public. If this leaves you out, join the club for a modest fee and come along on the forays and for many other educational opportunities.
FFSC local forays/habitat walks are all pending because ALL forays are subject to cancellation depending on the weather conditions. Be advised, these forays are on public lands, many of which do not allow anyone to gather mushrooms.
How to sign up: An email with information on how to sign up will be sent out to the Google group a couple of weeks before each foray, as would be a cancellation notice. The FFSC website will also have status updates. Two weeks prior to the event would be the time to register for the foray by emailing the foray leader at this address.
There’s the possibility of spontaneous forays popping up when the season gets going. These will be announced to the group via email and at the general meetings.
- Sat. 11/22/14 – Henry Cowell State Park – Habitat Walk
We'll be having a Habitat Walk at Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park on Saturday 11/22 from 9am-12pm. The focus of the walk will be on identifying mushroom habitat and some basic mushroom identification. We will NOT be foraging or removing mushrooms out of the park. It will not be strenuous, however muddy and rainy conditions are expected. Sign-up is necessary as the number of attendees will be limited. Please send an email to Cass Fuentes, foray leader, if interested to receive directions to the meet-up location (which won't be at the main entrance). There's lots of stuff popping up in the park right now, and with more rain in the forecast, this should be a great opportunity to check out some of the local mushrooms!
