General Meeting--Fungi and Summertime Vacations

? WHEN: 09/17/2014, 6-9 pm
? WHERE: Harvey West Scout House, 191 Harvey West Blvd. Santa Cruz 95060

Don't miss this meeting!

This is our kickoff meeting for the 2014/2015 mushroom season and we will be enjoying some great "get together" munchies and appetizers.  In fact, we will be opening the doors at 6:00 pm, one hour early so there will be plenty of time for noshing and visiting before the meeting starts at 7:00 PM.

Update!  Chef Bob Wynn will be making pizza.  Bring your favorite topping and a side dish!

Our speakers will provide a fungal version of "What I did on my summer vacation".  Club members who have traveled outside our area in the quest for summer mushrooms will regale us with their tales of adventure.  We are hoping to hear of Alaskan gypsies and kings, and perhaps salmon and bears as well.   One of many Boletacea from 2004 Alaska archives. More is in the works,  to be announced as commitments are made.

Update: It is confirmed. We will have a report on the Alaska foray from Phil and Kitty as well as Hugh.  We also have a report from Telluride's Mushroom Festival and the Rocky Mountains from Christian Schwarz. Cassandra Fuentes will provide Telluride photos as well.  We even have news from Burning Man from Ted Lorek.

If you have done some travel and would be willing to share your photos just bring them.  We want to hear what you have been up to.  For more details, contact Richard (<http://ffsc.us/e?q=dB9yWnpXSGtgUXFxSGxufE5dUkJ5SQ-3D-3D_596>).  In fact, if you have photos and can provide some written narration to Richard, he would be happy to present your slides during the meeting.  Please, lets hear from our traveling members who know how to keep the mushroom season going all year!

September's meeting is also a great opportunity to see what is planned, and to help plan the year's agenda for this season.  If you are eagerly anticipating a wetter winter, come join us as we celebrate the waning of summer and the beginning of a new mushroom season.
