Marshall Fields Habitat Foray

? WHEN: 09/28/2013, 9 am - 12 pm
? WHERE: Marshall Fields

There will be a Habitat Walk hosted by the FFSC on Saturday 9/28 at 9:00 am, at the Marshall Fields area of the UCSC campus located off of Empire Grade Road.  This walk will have an emphasis on mushroom ecology, as well as tree identification and their associations with some of our most beloved local mushrooms.  While the conditions haven't been such to produce optimal foraging (i.e. there may not be much picking to do...), this will be a great opportunity to learn how to recognize the places where you can likely find mushrooms when the season is upon us.

We will be meeting at the "bus stop" entrance off of Empire Grade, so named as there is a Metro Bus stop there. Traveling Northbound on the Grade, it is the large meadow on the right after the twin gates entrance where there is ample parking on BOTH sides of the street. If you hit Smith Grade or Sylvester Road, you've gone to far. If you are traveling Southbound and come across horse stables and Llama Ranch Lane, you've gone too far.
