2019 Fall Mushroom Dinner

Autumn beckons and we await the first fungal fruitings! In the meantime, the FFSC Culinary Committee welcomes you to celebrate the season with our annual Fall Mushroom Dinner.  Chef Bob Wynn and the Culinary Committee are cooking up a scrumptious menu for the evening. Menu is evolving, and will feature hors d’oeuvres served with an autumnal aperitif, followed by Vegetarian Porcini Pasta Bolognese (regular and gluten-free), Craterellus Green Beans, Foccacia and Panna Cotta for dessert. Mmmmmm...

Our speaker for September is Dr. Kabir Peay from Stanford University. Kabir did his doctoral studies At UC Berkeley and now heads a highly regarded mycological research program at Stanford.

Beautiful scenery, wildlife, fresh seafood and mushrooms! Edibles often found include Boletes, Gypsies, Hedgehogs, Lactarius deliciosus, and Alaska Gold, Phaeolepiota aurea. Fungal diversity can be astonishing, with some forays yielding over 200 species.
