Many wild mushrooms and lichens contain permanent, intensely colored dyes. In this workshop, you will explore a multitude of dye mushrooms found right here on the Redwood Coast.
Wild foraged fungi and ethically harvested lichens will define our palette. Using 10 species of urban and woodland fungi, along with eco-friendly mordants, we will create a full spectrum of incredibly rich colors - about 20 in all! Learn about foraging, ethical practices, basic identification concepts, and get hands on experience extracting mushroom and lichen dyes for wool and silk.
Please join us for our General Meeting at the Harvey West Scout House. Doors open at 7, with refreshments and informal mushroom ID from 7:00 - 7:30. A discussion of upcoming events will precede our speakers, Christian Schwarz and Penelope Gillette. Topic: The FFSC Sequencing Project and the Santa Cruz Mycoflora Project.

Please join us for our General Meeting at the Harvey West Scout House. We are pleased to have Taylor Lockwood as our presenter. A world-renowned mushroom photographer, Taylor's work has been published internationally, most recently in the May 2014 issue of National Geographic magazine.
