BAMS Co-Founder Debbie Viess presents, "California Myco-Wizard in the Land of OZ", a fun and engaging talk about the marvelous natural history of the Eastern Coast of Australia, from steamy Tropical Queensland to the chilly shores of Phillips Island. Fungi both familiar and utterly strange as well as a sampling of the curious creatures which dwell on this island/continent/country will be shown and discussed. Let Amanitarita be your guide to the magic of OZ, which is what the Aussies call their magnificent and dazzlingly different home. Prepare to be enchanted!

Soquel State Demonstration Forest Permits:

In addition to an entertaining talk by Debbie , representatives of the Soquel Demonstration State Forest will attend our upcoming General Meeting at the Harvey West Scout House. An update on current activities within the Forest will be provided and collecting permits for the upcoming season will be issued.

We are incredibly fortunate to have this collecting resource available to us. The SDF appreciates our help in updating their current species list, which you'll find on the back of your permit. Should you find and solidly identify a mushroom not listed (well done!), please share your information and appreciation by notifying either the SDF office or our Local Forays Minister so it can be updated.

A separate (and free) permit is required for our local Soquel State Demo Forest. Staff kindly comes once a year to save us the trouble of slogging up Old San Jose Road.

If you can't make the meeting and can't get up to the office, arrangements can be made by email (preferred), or by phone.

They will email a permit for you to print and carry with you.  But please note that they would vastly prefer to hand out permits en masse at the October meeting if possible - less staff time and paperwork!
